Instagram's exclusive features

Every year Instagram comes up with updates and innovations that are sure to keep you on your toes. Social media giant Meta has outdone itself once again to ensure that you can spend time on its flagship platform without getting bored. With each new update, Meta is getting even more creative while keeping the user-friendliness of its platform intact. As a result, major brands, media outlets and celebrities are always coming back to the platform to reach their direct audiences.

Meta focuses on updates for both IOS and Android systems to make the experience anything but mundane. So when you receive an update notification for the app, be sure to check it out so you don't miss out on the latest innovations it has to offer.

But in case you missed some of the updates to the application, we have prepared this list for you.

1- Parental Control

Parents now have the ability to track the accounts their children follow and set limits on the time they spend on the app. These new parental control updates were announced on 16 March. The aim is to allow parents to keep an eye on their children's activities on the platform.

2- Moderation of your live streams

A new feature now allows the host to designate a moderator for their live streams. In an effort to make the experience more professional and organised, the moderator will have the ability to remove viewers from the stream, flag comments and even disable comments for a specific viewer. A feature not unlike YouTube and Twitch where moderation of a live stream is commonplace.

3- Subtitling of videos

As announced by Meta on 1er As of March, all videos in the feed can be automatically subtitled in 17 languages. A major change that makes the Instagram platform accessible to all. Instagram is bringing itself up to date with TikTok, which introduced this feature in spring 2021.

4- Closing down the IGTV application and In-Stream video ads

Due to the growing awareness of Reel among influencers, Instagram announced on 28 February the official closure of advertising via In-Stream videos and its standalone IGVT app. Content creators who have monetised their content with IGVT advertising will receive a temporary monthly payment based on recent revenue. Future changes and updates will focus on the monetisation of Reels.

5- 3D Avatars

On 31 January on Twitter, Meta announced the introduction of 3D avatars available in stories and DMs. For a more inclusive and better representation, Instagram is offering a host of new features for avatars including new facial shapes and expressions, skin tones. The feature is only available in the US, Canada and Mexico, and work is underway to launch it worldwide.

6- Planning of the Directs

Instagram introduced a feature in January 2022 to schedule live streams that will appear as badges on creators' profiles. Subscribers and interested visitors can simply click on the badges to subscribe to live reminders.

7- Remixed videos

Since 2021, a new feature has been available to remix previously posted Reels on Instagram. Since January 21, 2022, the platform has extended this feature to all videos, and it promises that this extension will not affect previous videos posted.
